r/Scams – Sketchy seller seems to have filed a refund dispute on…

What is the scam here? I tried to call PayPal and was on the phone with people who said this was serious and they were taking steps to investigate… and then the phone line automatically dropped me because their offices closed. Fuck that.

Anyway, I purchased something online for $749 and then immediately regretted it because the website seemed so sketchy. I emailed the store and said can I cancel, and they said no wait we’ll ship tomorrow. And can you send your PayPal receipt. I couldn’t see any identifying info on it that I hadn’t already given them so I foolishly did. Suddenly now I have a dispute filed from my account for a $6 refund, which was immediately approved by the seller. I did not file this dispute. I changed my account password and have been walking my credit card like a hawk, but I’m still freaking out.

What is the scam here?? Should I wait until morning with PayPal? Should I file a chargeback with my credit card?
